Rapture Question...may be a no-brainer...

Okay, I tried out a couple of synth programs before I got Rapture and basically understand the entire jist of the program, but I've run into a small problem.

I'm familiar with Reason and know that there's a way to set a MIDI controller to have the different synths at different places on the keyboard. Is Rapture able to do this? I have gathered that it may, but I can't figure out how to do it myself and can't find a good explanation on it anywhere else online without buying a book or tutorial.

Any thoughts? Bear with me, I'm teaching myself how to do all this.

Rapture isn't multitimbral.  It has a mode that allows each "element" (which is like a mini-synth) to play on a different midi channel, but you can't do band in box type instrumentation.  The simplest way to use it w/ a separate instance for different sounds.

The easiest way to do that is to set your -lo key-high key- values.  For instance, if you had 2 different synths, (rapture and dimension pro for example) you would pick which one you wanted to play on the low end of the keyboard and set lo key to 0 and hi key to 63.  Do this for all elements.  The other synth, set lo key to 64 and hi key to 127.  Do this for all elements.  Play around with these numbers to see what works for you.  For this method make sure midi override is turned off.  Another way is to split raptures mutisamples using this same procedure.  You can set each elements hi key lo key values independently.  So rapture can actually play 6 multisamples at 6 different regions of your keyboard.  Or 2 multisamples in one region and 4 in another.  When you got something you like, save it as a program in the "Splits" folder.  You can also achieve all this in the SFZ files if you feel like getting your hands dirty.

if you download "muz3um" sound pack for rapture some of the progs have splits IRC.. (but I might be confusing it with DP.. as it's late)
