Wave Sorting Tool
I have some HUGE collections of wave files and was trying to find a way to sort them...no luck.
So I created this utility. It's rough yet, but maybe of some use to others.
To use it
Download the executable from this link:
Free File Server (sorry about the ads, but it's free for me. Please run your virus scanner on it, I don't know what they do to protect the content)
Copy the exe to the directory where all the '.wav' files are located.
Run the program. It displays a dialog to show the directory where it is working.
It will play each file in turn, following each with a text entry box; where you can enter a selection code to classify the file. Each classified file is moved into a sub-directory, which will be created if necessary. NOTE: It plays the file all the way through before presenting the dialog, so sorting large files will be boring. You can skip classifying a file, or exit the program at this point.
Currently it offers six categories. Beat, bass, drum, guitar, keyboards, and other. You could make those anything, by re-naming the sub-dirs after sorting.
I'm sure I'll be doing variants of it. Would appreciate any comments/suggestions from anyone who tries it.
Enjoy!
