Freaking automated volume faders
I asked Dave (bitflipper) for some help regarding removing the automation of volume faders once tracks overlap, and i got the answer and it worked well. But when for example, 2 tracks overlap, a fader won't appear, but once i move or adjust it's length and ends up still overlapping with another clip, the fader will reappear again. I would like to know what i am missing and it still happens under that cirumstance. BUT, What i want to know the most is if it is possible to remove all faders at once for the whole project without removing them all manually, like a 'Deactivate All Faders in The Current Project' button or something? Or if not, what is the most efficient way to do so? (Especially the volume fades that are too small to remove, that's one of my BIGGEST Sonar pet-peeves. )

Did you try when you are in track view, point to the line or node left by the fader envelope, right click on it and choose delete envelope. This deletes it for the entire track. jaamz

Use the envelope tool (not the default pointer/selection tool), this will prevent you from selecting the clip itself thereby making it easier to select the envelopes and nodes which is what you want to do. Then follow what Jaamz said, and yeah can only do one at a time. There's been a lot of discussions in the Sonar forum in the past year or so in regards to envelopes, I hope CW devs will improve the workflow of envelopes (automation) in the next version of Sonar.

Also, to correct my post: try ctrl key to select more than one envelope and see how that goes. Anyway! I don't think I've been in your particular situation. Envelopes can be fiddly at times. Good luck!

I am not aware of a "remove all volume envelopes" button or command. I generally have to remove them one track at a time.... And really, when I have to delete one.... it generally represents quite a bit of time invested that is being thrown away. So I don't know that I would want a "delete all" button because I'd probably click it and really get ticked that I lost all my envelopes and the time it took to tweeze them. I used to do enveolpes by turning on the Write automation and then working the faders..... but I stopped that about a year or more back. Now: I activate the Write Automation, hit play, click the volume fader, stop play and shut off the Write Automation. All I have is a straight line volume envelope with one node. Then I manually enter my nodes and drag my levels manually. The average track takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get the nodes in and the levels set approximately where I want them. Sometimes even less. I find this method to be clean in appearance and very precise in it's changes.

Hey Herb, you don't need to go through the routine of "activate the Write Automation, hit play, click the volume fader, stop play and shut off the Write Automation" Just Right-click anywhere in the track and select Envelopes > Add Track Envelope > Volume And you get a straight line volume envelope with NO nodes. I've recently adopted a slightly different approach for my volume envelopes: Activate the Write Automation, run through the song adjusteing the vol. as necessary, then fine tune it manually back in track view. This can add more nodes than is necessary, but it's quick.

The keyboard shortcut for toggling auto faders (at beginning/ends of joined clips) on/off is: "x" But that won't auto-remove these faders either. My latest strategies with envelopes is to do clip-volumes mostly. Then set track volumes envelopes to 'jump' between nodes where automation is feasible.
