Auto-Save v2.0.17, Anybody using this program?

I purchased this Disk Utilities suite of programs a couple years ago from Avanquest.

The disc's came with Perfect Image, a backup program and a program called "Auto-Save v2.0.17".

I installed it yesterday, it seems to have no ill effects on my computer speed at all, I didn't think it was doing anything yesterday because the directory I chose for backup had very little in it, but surprisingly I looked today and there's 25.7GB's of data backed up.

It's not a "Image" backup program, it's mainly just for files. It seems to save a copy of everything I save.

I was just wondering if anybody else is using this program and if it's worth using?

I don't see the harm in using it because I have more space than I will ever use on my external hard drive, and it seems to be backing up what I set it up to do. All at the same time, I do wonder about the wear and tear that it might cause on my external hard drive writing to it.

I worked on a couple of songs yesterday and I can see today where when I saved the Cakewalk Bundle file that it also saved a copy of the file in the autosave backup directory.

I'll still keep on backing up my system like I have been, but I'm thinking this program will be a good xtra safeguard for individual files.

I don't use System Restore on Vista because it's failed me several times over, I've always had problems with it on Vista.

Thoughts?

Bobby

Just thought I would update how this worked out.

It didn't. It was ok for the first day or two, after that I started noticing it was writing files while I was recording with my Daw which started to cause some popping noises.

I removed this program using Revo's freeware remover. I noticed my computer was running slow after removing it, so I ran a registry repair program and found 13,000 entries that were still left by this program from where it had been saving files.

In the end I used Acronis True Image and just restored my computer to where I had saved it before installing this program.

This program didn't work out for me, that's not to say it wont for somebody else.

Thanks Freeze for the warning!  I'll stay clear of that program unless others validate otherwise.

    Thanks for the Advice.

But there is an auto save for files feature on Music Creator 4. I'm not sure about all that, but it is worth mentioning. I've never looked into it but I would be curious to hear how others use or why they don't use it.

    Thank you!

I got to looking around my older CD's and found some CD's where I had backed up my purchase of  "Vista Home Premium" I purchased as an upgrade a while back from Vista Basic, so I re-installed that version of Vista. I thought I had lost that purchase because I lost my digital locker. I would have never looked for those disc if it wasn't for your interest in this subject. Thanks.

It basically means I now have Windows Media Center. That's really the only reason to upgrade from Basic to HP IMO. Although I don't use it, maybe I'll find a use for it in the future. At least I have the option now and that's the important thing I guess.

I'm glad I reinstalled these disc because I found some other programs I had forgotten I even had.

    Thanks,

    Bobby
