Evil/ Demon/ Ghost Voice Effect???
I was Wondering if There was a Nice Vst Plug in That will turn voice into a evil demon type of voice. FL Studio has a nice flanger that will make this effect really good when put into the preset of Vexed 5ths. Now since i hardly use FL for my Recording needs, i wanted something similar so i can use within Sonar. any recommendations?

First, you can rewire FL in SONAR and use its flanger. I'll have to check out Vexed 5ths ... but there is a Sonitus flanger in SONAR. Try that first. And there are plenty of third party effects, free or paid. Check KVR.com @
https://soundcloud.com/a-pleasure-dome http://www.bnoir-film.com/ there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. 24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

You can try playing with pitch/formants in V-vocal. But you're much better off getting a real evil demon to come and do the session...

+1 Drewfx1, I did demon vocs using Melodyne explicitly ... but had to use a condensor mic and a decent pre. For a deep male demon: 1) Go down 1 octave with pitch 2) Take the formant down another 2-5 semitones. For a sadistic female demon: 1) Go up 1 or 2 octaves (again, if the mic/pre combo is poor there won't be enough color to work with) 2) Push the formant up another couple of semitones. 3) Or just play with the formant any ole way, in V-vocal or a pitch changer ... consider alternate fx's: 4) Ultra compress 40/1 ... with MU gain to clipping 5) Use the flanger fx in Sonar etc. Time would fail me to guessing one might discover a nasty demon with lofi distortion, hamonizers, tape saturation, wawa fx, and/or NI guitar gear LE (which demonizes all my guitar tones ...) Digital distortion is probably more demonic than tube/analogue. Playing Stairway to Heaven backwards ... yields formidible minions as well. Hopefully, MGH will chime and shed some light on the powers of darkness.

Yep, Philip's response is a good one. It's done easily in VVocal using that sort of approach. I found that I had to experiment with the original spoken text a bit (mainly with speed) to make sure it was clear. Have a listen to the final product (a theme song I wrote/recorded for our Floorball club for us to take to the nationals this year: h ttp://soundclick.com/share?songid=9189974) Oh, and by the way, the only game we lost was the final :-(

Clone Ensemble is relatively inexpensive and can do a good job at this (much better at strange voice effects than actually making a voice sound like a group of vox).

Analtortion is pretty hep for free. Not sure it's exactly what you're looking for. Maybe layer two of their insane patches.

Thank you all for the responses. DanBob i heard the voice that's exactly how mine sounded after messing with the V-Vocal in sonar, Still haven't came across one just like it tho, I will be trying Mlockett's and bapu's Recommendation to see where it leads off

lol Philip! well how evil do you wish? if you can do some black/death metal type vocals then it's a lot easier, i just record fairly hot and add something like a tube emulator just to push the sound more... if not pitch-shifting is a good start, the one built into Sonar is not bad actually, and has a useful delay built in. add plenty of reverb and some eq and you can have lotsa fun. others have suggested other plug-ins which are a combination of different modulating fx. but for me...try and do it (almost) naturally!

SSL actually have a free plugin made especially for this, I think it's still available so check out their site. While you're there don't forget to download their excellent emulation of their classic Listen Mic Compressor, it's free as well.
Sadly very reduced studio equipment as it is... ASUS G750J, 8 gb RAM, Win8, Roland Quad Capture.

Another approach might be to use the 'Poltergeist Reverb' "reverse reverb" It is used on the Pearl Jam song 'Even Flow' and also in the film Poltergeist. And can sound pretty spooky in an unusual way. It is basically adding reverb and then taking the printed reverb section and reversing it, then mixing it with the dry vocal. Possibly triggering the reverse reverb slightly earlier than the dry vocal. Just a different angle for you to try.

It depends on what kind of 'Demon' you want to sound like. If you want to sound like a low voiced demon then just pitch shift your way down and you'll sound like The Sisters of Mercy on anti-steroids. For that clean voiced demon it's also nice to add a high pitched harmony to make it sound more demon-like. I forgot what films had that kind of style of demon-voicing. If you want the scary and evil (i can't really tell if this is the evil type you are saying), then take Mgh's advice. If you know how to do black/death vocals, record it then add pitch shfting, reverb and maybe distortion. Or try even mastering (perfecting, not the audio term ) your extreme vocals, just like what Mgh said. Like Chris Barnes, no effects and pure meat grinding vocals. But if you're looking for the ghost type, then you might want to try some fancy reverbs or something. The ones that the earlier guys posted. Well, goodluck!
Check out my band's song on YouTube!

mizter_silencer i know i can rewire, but i don't think i can link just an effect from fl studio to sonar can i? flstudio effects are 'locked' into FLSTUDIO. They do not show up in any hosts when rewired, or as in Sonar, flstudio can also be used as a VSTi and, or multiVSTi. This can also be seen as a hybrid concept to the functionality of Reason.
