Orchstral MIDI Libraries??
Does anyone know of any orchestral MIDI libraries with commonly-used musical phrases for movies? I see so many MIDI libraries, but all of them seem to be directed towards trance/house musicians! Thanks in advance,

EWQL has their Hollywood Strings and IK Multimedia has their "Cinematik Collection" orchestral library XPansion Tank. ESoundz.com has a "Cinema Sessions" series of libraries. Native Instruments has a slew of "orchestral"/world percussion sounds. It all depends upon your ROMpler of choice, I guess. I know you know your orchestral arranging, but some of these libraries are a bit "dark" to my ears. Some sound more like they're for "moody" orchestral pieces.
SONAR Platinum ▪ NI Komplete, Korg DLC, Arturia V5 Collection, Dimension Pro, IK Multimedia & other synths ▪ Les Paul, Peavey and Yamaha guitars. Listen to some of my stuff here: https://soundcloud.com/shadowsoflife . Comments from other SONAR users are always welcome!

I did ask about MIDI libraries, right??? No, it's okay. Maybe I should clarify a little bit: I am looking for a package of MIDI files divided up into phrases for different instruments. If anyone knows of anything, it would be much appreciated.

GigaGreenGad Ummm... I did ask about MIDI libraries, right??? No, it's okay. . Other than drum loops the only supplier of midi loops I have used is Twiddly Bits, but they do not have any orchestral stuff. As I am sure you have found out Googling brings up all sorts of rubbish (the books you found and posted in the techniques thread were a nice "happy accident" I assume.) Here is one place where you may get lucky. http://www.synthzone.com/midifile.htm One idea may be to get some good midi arrangments of classical or film score works and clip out phrases and edit to suit.

Ha! I was way off! Okay, I've learned: No more forum responses while I'm loaded up on cough syrup! At the risk of making things worse for myself...what kind of "phrases" do you want? Are you looking for actual musical pieces (like a chord progression), or orchestral instrument playing "phrases" or effects like this (even though this example is not "orchestral")? And now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go lie down. I've done enough damage for one day.

I am already putting something together for myself now... it is like this: - Organized Orchestral MIDI
- Instrumental
- Strings
- Guitar
- Woodwinds
- Brass
- Percussive

Ah, I see (I hope). These are folders on your hard drive where you're storing the phrase snippets? I suppose they could be groups of tracks in a SONAR file, for easy auditioning. I'll probably be guessing at this by myself for a while, since the forum e-mail system is (and has been) down and you won't get this message!
