Anyone know what guiatr effect this is.. comes in on 48 & 57 seconds. I think it might be a slide or hawian guitar with some tremolo maybe? I just love that sound and such a great song. Steve Oh yeah, the link.... http://www.youtube.com/wa...;feature=youtube_gdata

Actually I'm thinking maybe it's on a keyboard and not a guitar. Wish I knew where to get it.

Most likely an electric with lots of high-boost through a tube amp set semi-clean. The pitch slide at the end of the phrase sounds a little beyond what polyphonic keyboards could do in the early 60's.

That's what I had thought re the polyphonic keyboards but there's no way that version was recorded in the 60's as I said in my comments on youtube, those drums are straight out of an 80's drum production, really heavily gated and compressed so the whole thing was probably recorded in the 80's as it sounds much too clean which means it could be a keyboard. I just love the effect though whatever it is but it's how an effect is used that can make or break it sometimes. Steve

George Harrison played slide guitar on that track so it may have been him playing that lick. It certainly sounds like a slide guitar. Contrary to the YouTube video's info the song appears to have been released in 1987 on the album Duane Eddy. http://www.discogs.com/Du...e-Eddy/release/2042186 6 The Trembler Drums - Jim Keltner Engineer - Richard Dodd Keyboards, Synthesizer, Bass - Jeff Lynne Producer - Jeff Lynne Saxophone [Tenor] - Jim Horn Steel Guitar [Slide Guitar] - George Harrison Written-By - D. Slide. The original recording has either been revamped (as made obvious by the drums) or someone's just re-recorded it. Wasn't that song in Natural Born Killers? I'd have a look in that direction... Mr. Stone might have had it re-worked to fit the aesthetics of his movie. ;)

Thanks Chapel for the research. I feel lazy now :) I was kind of right then, that has to be a steel slide guitar in fact now I come to think of it there's a beatles track that has something like that on it. Can't remember which one though. Yes, you're spot on rain I remeber it now. Quite a few people discovered Daune Eddy I'm sure after watching that film.
