Jamstix3

Well, I bought it and downloaded it and can'ty find it anywhere.  It shows up in programs but just shows the manual.  I opened up SHS and poked around.  I'm lost.  Anyone use it before?  TIA.

I don't have SHS but try looking in:

    C:\users\(your name)\my documents\jamstix3.dll

    That's for Win 7.

If that doesn't give you enough info try a search for "jamstix3.dll"

    It's there somewhere.

Thanks, Dave.  Well I figured out how to get the Jamstix into SHS and have it in there but now I can't get any sound. I have Studio Instruments that came with SHS7XL and it has a transport bar with the play arrow.  I can't find anything in Jamstix so far that will let a pattern play.  I click on the cymbals or drums and no sound.  Well,  back to the drawing board.  Thanks for your reply!

how are you inserting it into your project, Warren?  what options are you choosing when the dialog box pops up?

Hi, Reese!  Well, I have always done audio stuff.  I am totally lost on the synth thing.  I have done some midi years ago.  So, I have the track that I ionserted and have the Jamstix "kit" up but have no idea how to insert anything.  I had no problem with SI drums in Cakewalk but I just seem to be lost here.  There is a manual but it seems to be as strange as the CW tutorials.  I am not good at those things.  I'm going to print out the manual so it is right there.  I just don't know how to go from here.  I have a track up and the jamstix kit graphic up but can't get anywhere from there.  Make any sense?  Thanks, buddy!!

ah - that's why you're having problems!  sounds like you're running it in standalone mode instead of inserting it as a softsynth.  you have to insert it into the project just like you do SI drums.

go to INSERT>SOFTSYNTH>JAMSTIX or it may be under a subfolder like RAYZOON, I don't know since I don't have jamstix myself.

then a window will pop up asking you for checkboxes.   if you plan to use more than 1 output (which is great for drums so you can individually EQ/Compress, etc them) then don't choose INSTRUMENT TRACK, choose multiple outputs and the rest should be default, probably.

I go to INSERT>SOFTSYNTH>vst PLUGINS>JAMSTIX AND A WINDOW COMES UP.  Checkboxes are as follows:
    Single Track Instrument
    MIDI Source
    Synth Track Folder
    First Synth Audio Output
    All Synth Audio Outputs: Stereo
    All Synth Audio Outputs: Mono
    Enable MIDI Output

I guessed on "All Synth Audio Outputs:Mono and it loaded about 12 tracks to the project.  Make sense?

Hey, reese, I got it loaded (thanks).  now I have to learn how to use it.  I printed out the manual.  That might make it easier.  Thanks for your help.

glad you figured it out warren!

I don't have jamstix myself, so i can't help you much with the actual usage of it.  but Herb (guitarhacker) who is usually on the MC forum is pretty knowledgable about it.  if you have a question about it, post it in the MC forum for guitarhacker and he can probalby help.
