'You always find me' - from Psalms 139 - Trip Hop

I feel pretty good about this one.  First couple words I know got lost but the rest of the mix I think is some of my best mixing work.  It's an interesting little bit of Jazz hip hop and beat construction that I did for a church songwriters group.  As always your comments are encouraged whether obsequious praise or pajoritive critisism.

Thanks chrome,  I think triphop is the style I aught to be working in all the time.  relatively simple track

    Vocals are live
Bass is keyboard - spectrasonic trilogy
Keys - Native Instruments Electrik Piano
    Drums - Stylus RMX beat
    Sax - Samples

Sounds great on my home stereo system (with bass boost). Really cool laid back tune.

Sadly very reduced studio equipment as it is... ASUS G750J, 8 gb RAM, Win8, Roland Quad Capture.

    Hello Jeff,

I don't think the bass has enough definition and there seems to be a lack of sparkle to the mix but song is good and the singer is doing a fine job.
...just a heads up:There are some folks here who can crit without it being obsequious  or pajoritive so i would think if you're asking for something you'd benefit by not insulting them from the start.

Thanks Diabdude & Legion,  I appreicate the feedback.  I did some pretty indescriminate rolloff of the bass on both the beat and the bass tracks.  I'll play with that a bit and I will add back some of the sparkle I usually put in as well.  I've been critisized for too much in the past and tried to tone it down.

No How,  Glad you liked the song.  I think your probably right on the definition part.  thats why I rolled it off the way I did.  It was a little muddy innitially but I'll try to find the punch.  I sing all my stuff until I can get someone interested in helping me.

As far as the exagerated adjectives to describe comments, I was just trying to be funny.  Essentially "tell me how great I am or Hate it.  I'm good with both I just like to talk about my stuff"  Sorry you took it as a shot.  Big words are funny to me.

    Jeff

Not really my genre or subject matter so I almost didn't listen, but I'm really glad I did now. As other have said the bass seems a little lost but other than that I think it sounds great. You needn't worry about finding anyone to help you with the vox  - I reckon you pretty much nailed it. Just d/loaded it for my mp3 player so I can listen some more on the move - thanks for sharing.

Hey Paulo, thanks for giving it a listen.  It's a little genre bending I think and definately different treatment of the subject matter.  I am going to work on the production though and removing the bass cutoff will be part of that.  I'll probably sing it again as well but if I get the singer I want you will know why I did.
