BFD2 remix

This an instrumental that was formaly using sonic implants sound fonts so as you might imagine there is a pretty big difference. I have left the original version (track 2) there as a comparison.

Some people felt the track was too long and although it is indeed long it's as long as it needs to be.
Think it would make a good sound track as it has a great driving feel to it.

It's called, "A Bit Spookier" and you can hear it here..... ( http://www.soundclick.com...ault.cfm?bandID=26364)

I guess I'd like any comments on the drums. programming, realism and mixing in particular.
I have ideas to add a few other little things to the drums but because there is so much going on in this track I often feel that less is more.

Steve

PS I would also like to point out that no presets were harmed during the making of this piece.
Those who are on the BFD2 forum should understand the above comment

The above link didn't work for some reason but it occured to me that I have the "soundclick" link in my signiture so that should do it. It's the first track by the way, the second being the older version.

Very musical and yes, definitely could be a sound track. I enjoyed it and I don't think it's too long as sound tracks are quite long. The only suggestion I have is that it seems to lack a bit in the lower frequencies, but the rest with the mix was done well.
    Nicely done!

    Thanks Mesh
Hmmm that's interesting what you say abou the lower end being lacking.
For years I've been mixing on my hi-fi speakers which I know is a big no no.
A good pair of B&W's they might be they definately colour the sound so at the advice of a guy in a music store I bought a pair headphones (beyerdynamic DT 100's) and noticed there was a major difference in the lower frequencies so have been trying to redress the balance since.
My next acquisition other than a new DAW will probably be a pair of Genelecs or KRKG's when my wallet permits.
I'm assuming by lower frequencies you mean mean bass and kick perhaps or are you refring to general instrumetation?
    Thanks for comments
    Steve

Hi Steve, the bass as well as other intrumentation could use a little boost to make it sound "phatter".
I try to listen to my mixes in different environments (ear buds, car, lap top etc...).....just to get an idea what others will hear.
    +1 on getting Genelecs.
