Making of a Classic: 10cc - I'm Not In Love - The Docmentary

An old friend and recording buddy turned me onto this on his Facebook page. This should be a treasure and a real nostalgic treat... for those of you who were around when it first came out, as well as those who are a little newer on the block:

This was when "looping" meant cutting and splicing tape into a physical loop. Dig how they made a sampling keyboard out of a 16-track tape machine and a mixing desk. A rare combination of creativity and talent, from inception to production. (JMO!) Enjoy...

    Yeah i think i saw this a few years back - unless this is a different docu.

    That is fantastic. I was mesmerized by that song when it came out. Here is an even older

    or ...they could have just used a Mellotron. lol it's nice when you're a big act and the label grants you unlimited studio time. that song did have a very ethereal sound to it. a true masterpiece by early pioneering samplists.

    I think they got a lot better quality with the open reel machines they those playback heads in the Mellotron.
