BR-800 vs V-Studio 20

Has anyone had any hands on with these two Digital Studios and can you tell your preferences between them?

With the included effects software, the VS20 is essentially a BR-800 without the built-in recording functionality. The VS20 requires a computer to function, the BR-800 does not.

    Thanks Vergie...but...

I actually bought both of them and did my own comparison. My opinion...the BR800 is an overpriced piece of junk. I am sure some folks may find it useful but it is in no way worth the money. The VS-20 is hands down 10x better for my money. It is easier to use and functions better especially with Sonar 8.5. .

I was actually pissed that Roland would sell that crap for the price they were asking. The controls were the worst part about it. I'm not gonna go on cause I think it is user subjective so again I thank you for your reply.

I am interested in starting to do some recording at home, but at present we know very little. I would be able to record the acoustic guitar, electric and voice. I found these multi-channel digital recorders and looks like a good place to start time. I have no fear to invest money, because it is something that I would work long term, but I do not complicate the process as possible. I have no experience with a workstation, and therefore any unit is to start from scratch.

    shangrilrao...

the v-studio-20 is a great starting point for you. It comes with Guitar Tracks 4 which is a DAW like Sonar but mush easier to use for beginners. When you want to graduate up to a more complete DAW then you can get Sonar and still use the v-studio within Sonar instead of Guitar Tracks.

I highly recommend V-Studio 20 for beginners or anyone who wants a quick & easy record option.

It is a great system to start with  in getting familuar with the workings of the DAW. I wish they had this when I just started out becasue it would have made life so much easier.
