mouving clip around to different track

What is the best way to move clips to different tracks. I have snap to grid enabled but when I copy and paste a clip from say position 30 on the time line it does not go automatically to that position on the new track. I have to tweak it manually. Is there an easier way?

Sure is! SHIFT and drag the clip to other track. Thsi SHIFT key locks the clip to its original timeline (or CTRL+SHIFT and copy and drag)

    ^^^ What the Swede said!!

Also, your method would work providing you set your NOW time to 01:01:000 before pasting.
