Recording while hearing MIDI

I use Music Creator 5 and a Lexicon Lambda as my sound card. I would like to record guitar while hearing my programmed MIDI tracks, but if I try recording while other tracks aren't muted, it causes really loud static. Similiar with when i try using the metronome. Its a steady pulse of static, not a metronome tone.
I have a feeling it has to do with the sound input/output of my computer, but its just a thought.

    which driver mode are you using and what is your latency set to?

    Dude 26581 post and counting when are they going to hire you? I bet you wish you had a nickle for everytime you asked .........
