Trouble with Sonar Studio 7 and Windows 7

Hi there,

I scanned the forum but could not find any related solution to my problem.
I installed Sonar 7 Studio attached my Yamaha KX8 keyboard loaded TTS1 but do not get any sound from MIDI although I see midi activity.
Even audio files are not played.

When Sonar was installed I choosed for MIDI Input KX-1, KX-2 and KX-3 and for output the same as I do not see any sound engine to choose ( and I think this is the problem).

My machine is a hp Pavilion p3160de with an on-board soundcard driven by Realtec High definition audio under Windows 7.

All other programs like iTunes etc. work fine so it does not seem to be a general problem with sounds.

Anyone out there who could help?

Thx!

MIDI is not sound so you won't get any sound from it unless you send it to a softsynth.

I don't think the KX is an audio interface so you have to use the Realtek for audio (which is less than optimal). Check Options-Audio-Drivers and make sure the Realtek is selected for input and output. Go to Option-Audio-Advanced and set the driver mode to WDM or MME, whichever mode works better.

Load Tutorial1.cwp and follow these instructions:
    1) View-Synth Rack
    2) Click the Insert DXi button (looks like an asterisk)
    3) Click on TTS-1 - Check First Synth Output and Synth Property Page checkboxes
    4) Edit Select All (to select all tracks)
    5) Track-Property-Output
    6) Select TTS-1 from the MIDI Outputs pulldown (that makes the TTS-1 the output for all MIDI tracks)
    7) Hit play

Thanks daveny5. I tried all this but w/o success.
So I consider to get myself an external audio-interface.
