CHANGE STEREO TO MONO

I have been reading that one should ordinarily record in mono - saves memory, etc.  I've been recording my vocals in stereo (because it is the default setting?!), and I believe that is why I now have panning problems - I can't make the vocals sound like they're in the middle, even if I slide the panning tool all the way to the right.

So now I have a bunch of vocals that I'd like to salvage - and pan to the middle:  CAN I CHANGE THEM TO MONO?  I know there's a mono button in the trac pane, but it still won't let me change the pan.  I can now see in the wave forms that there is sound on only one side - which I thought stereo would have recorded the same up and down since I was using one mic.  But answering my own question, since I use only one mic, that's the side that recorded.

Thanks.

Edit-Bounce to Tracks and select Mono for Channel Format.

Or right-click on the clip and select "convert to mono"

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Before I do the Edit>Bounce to Tracs, your way looks simpler.  But when I right click the clip, that option isn't offered...?

If it's an audio clip, when you right click, the 14th item down the list is "Convert to Mono" - or "Convert to Stereo" if you're doing the opposite.

I don't know how I missed it, but I see it now - worked like a charm!  Thanks.
