O1V96 v.s O2R Version 2

Hi guys,

I currently record using a Yamaha O1V96 and it sounds really good to me. I have been looking to upgrade/expand my channel count and I have an option to either buy a mint condition Yamaha O2R Version 2 for a very good price or an as-new Focusrite ISA828 8-channel preamp for the same price.

Which would you go for?

Ludwig Bouwer, One Big Room Studios.

    Preamp.

You can always sub mix in sonar.  I use an 02rv2, and I am happy, but would love to move up past 20 bit.  Also the pres on the 02r are garbage.  I go in and out via motu2408 lightpipe.  I only use the 1/4 inch i/o on the o2r to input from outboard pres.  8 nice pre's with the 01v would be hard to compare soniclly with the 02r.
