Main Outputs ?
Hi, Don't even know if this can be done, because I can't figure it out,so please bear with my ramble. If I record on track 1, 2 and 3 (for example, it could be any tracks) and then point them to individual busses, looking at the console view, I want to point the busses to my VS-20 (main outs), rather than the master, to get more sound, how do I then control the individual busses, to point to one main output ? Does this make sense ? Thanks John

Set the output of the busses to a master which outputs to the VS-20. I don't understand the "to get more sound" though.

Hi Alex, Thanks for getting back to me,"to get more sound",what I mean is when I point the bus (the box at the bottom of the bus track below the track icon) to the VS-20, it's so much louder, and clearer, therefore making quieter sounds easier to hear, and adjust ! does that make any sense ? Not really, sorry John, If you start a new project and choose the "normal" template that should get you one audio- and one midi track that outputs to a master. If you have all the tracks sliders set at zero, there should be no volume difference wether you set your output of the tracks to your main out or the master.

Does that make it easier for you Jwh?

Forget about bypassing the master bus, as it's unnecessary. Instead, concentrate on finding out why the output is quieter and less clear after it's gone through the master bus. Whatever the reason turns out to be, I am sure it will be a satisfying "ah-ha!" moment for you.

Only thing I can think of is the subs are going to the output of the V20 and the master is going somewhere else like the on board? Or is there 1-2 3-4 as outputs? Certainly not as a default setting .

Does that make it easier for you Jwh? Hi CJ, I understand the order sequence of what you are saying, but why when I hit the output button, below the bus icon, the one that brings up all the different busses and outputs, when I select the V-20 output for example does it sound louder ? And have to bring the fader down from say 3.5 to -7.5 , obviously I'm doing something wrong, but what ? Thanks John

why when I hit the output button, below the bus icon, the one that brings up all the different busses and outputs, when I select the V-20 output for example does it sound louder ? As mentioned, there should be no difference between the loudness of tracks sent directly to an output on the interface, or through the Master bus to that same output, unless the Input or Output level on the master is other than 0dB, or there are effects on the Master that alter the output level. If you really can't see anything that would account for the Master bus not being transparent, you might try deleting and recreating it. The only other possibility I can think if is maybe something to do with mono/stereo interleave and pan settings.
