ok be4 I throw my PC against a wall..(Metronome issues yet again)

Here's what I've done:
1) recorded an AUDIO (external) metronome track
2) hit record on another empty audio track, and the speed & pitch of the just-recorded click track is now HIGHER

I'm gonna cry...

I have both metronome boxes UNchecked(under Project/Metronome)

no.... do not record an AUDIO metronome track. It will not line up properly to the BPM of the project....

Use TTS... set the channel to 10 as I describe on my website for drums..... insert bass and snare and let TTS play it back instead of using the metronome. NOW..... if you decide, you can bounce it to audio and it will be synched to the BPM.

open MC4/5 choose new project...call it midi drums. choose a normal project... this gives you an audio & midi track. MC5 only shows one track when you insert a synth.

click on the midi track & select VIEW >STAFF to get the staff view. click on the draw tool and insert a few notes in a few measures...it doesn't matterwhat notes...we just want something to be triggering the midi.


NOW.. highlight the audio track by clicking on it. Right click in the FX bin select soft synths and select Cakewalk-TTS..minimize the synth window.

SO FAR>>>SO GOOD>

Just one more step and you should have sound!!!!!

Now...double click in the midi track control area....and the track properties window will open.

Select INPUT=none..... OUTPUT= Cakewalk-TTS.....CHANNEL =10


Hit Play...you should now hear sound.

If you don't hear anything at this point...double check to be sure the rig is working properly

What sound card are you using? It sounds like you have synch timing issues with the sound card that is throwing off the speed.

There you go. That's your problem. Realteck onboard soundcards are notorious for these types of issues. I had one when I first started also and eventually had to replace it with a better soundcard designed for digital audio recording.

ok lads, I know this isn't the answer u wanna hear, but I'm using the internal/built-in sound "card" aka onboard.

I record INTO the software via Presonus Audiobox USB.

OK... there's your problem. You only should be using ONE CARD in...and out.... the same card. By using a different card to play it back, you are having synch/timing issues caused by using two different cards. The timing signals are different for the two cards and they are not able to synch to each others signals.

ok, well, actually my answer was a bit misleading.
When I said "but I'm using the internal/built-in sound", I means that I have that installed.
But actually all of my settings seem to indicate that I'm configured for the USB Audiobox.

So, here's what I just did:
I just went through  control panel/sounds
and changed every setting to  audiobox USB.
I then noticed it didn't fix my problem.
SO: then I went back into Control Panel Sounds and changed the 'Sound Recording' option to "LineIn/MicIn"
Now, my click track sounds proper when I hit record on other tracks.

So, it appears that having the Presonus set up as the default "windows" "Sound Recording" device...is messing things up.
Maybe that: was the point of conflict.

actually, I just ALSO discovered that by making that change I just described above, I just lost input signal to MC.

SO, change "Sound Recording" back to "Audiobox USB", and I get level back in MC.
and guess what else...high pitch click...
