USB interface to replace EMU1616m

Hi all,

I have to replace temporarily my current setup which is Desktop with EMU1616m to go laptop. Funnily enough I bought the 1616m because it was PC Card compatible and had it on a previous laptop setup, unfortunately the laptop I have now doesn't have any PC Card connector, so I will have to go USB.
I have completely lost any type of GAS and don't know anymore anything on the market, this setup has been running fine for last 3 years or so and looking at gear shops I feel a bit outdated.
The reqs are:
-4 balanced input minimum (don't need more than 8)
-balanced outputs (4 would be great)
-low latency
-must do 88.2kHz
-stable drivers (will be win 7)
-very good AD/DA converters (I love my 1616m for that)

optional: phono preamp and/or guitar input would be great, don't really need Midi since I use a USB controler

I don't care about hardware effects or fancy routing whatever. Just a plain good IO board.
I've seen:
-M-Audio FastTrack Pro (looks good compromise)
-MOTU MicroBook (a bit over my budget, but I'd make the effort if proves good)

Any comment or suggestion?

Thanks,
Cedric

Thanks for the link, I havent checked much the Cakewalk stuff since they have effects I don't really care for.
I'm looking for people having references they would share for quality hassle free USB interface.

Yes, I've just checked the Babyface and it definitely looks serious, but over budget. Will probably go for the MOTU, they usually have good drivers and it does just what I want.

For my laptop I'm using the Tascam us1641 and so far it's rock solid. But I'm on XP so cannot vouch for W7 Drivers. This is stupid that I bought it for $299 from this link below which now is a package of other junk, but it shows the specs. It has been replaced with a new model that is triple the price but not much different.
I have been recording up to 12 tracks live to an old Acer laptop. It has 8 XLR and a bunch of TRS inputs.

I also own the Fast track pro but it only is a 2 x 4 (in unless you use the digital) Its also a good unit but the  xlr pre amps are not anywhere as good as the Tascams. The gain control is either on or off and the headphone level is weak. I use a sub mixer and it's fine that way.
