Transient pop-up message
I have a project that now displays this pop-up message each time I open the project: "Transients are in the process of being generated. Depending upon project settings, playback may be different until the process is complete." how do I get rid of this message? what caused this message so that I can avoid doing it in the future? Thank you.

Well, you can right click on the clip or clips that have Audio Snap enabled and select to disable them and the transient markers. Cj

Hey - slow down a minute boys - I've had that message appear when opening projects which have NO Audiosnap clips anywhere in the project. It must be something else, like redrawing waveforms possibly?

I've seen it here, too. I was thinking maybe it was time to empty the Pic Cache.

The thing I don't understand is that for some reason, Sonar "thinks" that I am using AudioSnap in my project (and builds the transients, etc.) but I'm not using AudioSnap anywhere.

I have seen that, too. The way I usually notice it is that I cannot create a V-Vocal clip. When that happens, I just right-click on the clip and select "Bounce to Clip(s)".
