Another Arconis issue(sorry Janet)

I'm trying to get part of a partitioned disk(320 GB) containing about 35 GB of data including winXP to a new drive(80 GB SSD).
The D: partition is about 102 GB.

I backed up the D partition and tried to to put it on the new HDD, but it seems to be missing NTLDR?

NTDLR is a file that is relevant to booting a disk from Windows prior to Vista. If you just want to copy the data on the drive to another drive try using unstoppable copy. If you are trying to boot a disk that needs NTDLR (short for NT loader) you are probably in over your head. where are you exactly?

It's a partition of the system drive I'm trying to copy with XP on it, I did a search for NTDLR but it's not there?

Hi Alex,

You need to restore Folders and individual files, not partition, from the backup you did.

When you restore, Acronis allows you to click on the root directory and that selects ALL under it for restoring.

I have to install xp first and get Acronis in the HDD(which is another problem, it on a flash drive that is corrupted somehow, can't open it)?

And after that I should restore all or just the files I want?

Thanks

Alex, if you have a corrupted flasdrive, I'd go on a folder by folder basis and see what can be rescued, using regular copy or paste, or whatever means the op-system provides to copy files.

In that situation, you take what you can, as soon as possible.

Good luck.

Quite frankly, I would consider doing a complete new installation on the new drive. If the old drive is still intact, you can try to clone (not backup) that drive using Acronis, that would copy the hidden files into the correct locations on the drive, but a clean installation might be worth the time.

I solved the NTLDR thing but I couldn't get passed the blue xp screen with the xp logo.

I'm now installing everything again :-(

The SSD is amazingly fast!
