I think I already have this tool...?

I find that I compose some songs by recording some measures of drums, then some different measures of guitars, bass, etc. I then create groove clips to stretch them longer and I move them around. It seems to me there are tools for this. I would like to record audio into some sort of sequencer that makes it easy to play the different parts in different orders. Something like a sampler, or Beatscape - I don't know. Ideally, I would like very simple workflow - record something I like, drag it to a cell in the editor/player.

I have Sonar 8.5 Producer - do I already have a tool for this?

Beatscape will allow that with audio clips, but you might also want to take a look at the Matrix View, which is a new feature in 8.5.
