Dim Pro 1.5 X64 Users Please Read (Cakewalk Too...)

Hello!

I started this thread HERE about Dim Pro 1.5 crashing with certain patches.

I wanted to start a new thread to bring this to the forefront.
Thanks to Dorset Magic who posted this pic:

This seems to be the problem for me. Anyone care to see if they can duplicate the problem? Just follow below.

I'm running Sonar 8.5.3 in Win7 both 64 bit.

I start a new project and load Dim Pro 1.5. I make sure it's version 1.5 by clicking on the Dimension Pro logo in the plug-in. I do this because I have both 1.2 and 1.5 versions in my plug in folder.

Goto the 08-Guitars folder and load "Almost There".

Check to see what your settings are compared to the pic above. Mine has Both Random Unipolar 1 and 2 set to 40. If I play some notes, it works for a moment and then I hear a stuck midi note and then Sonar crashes and then my computer crashes.

Once I reboot and try it again, but BEFORE I play a note I double click on both Random Unipolar 1 and 2 "40" to change it to "0". Then I play again. It WORKS!!!

Anyone care to confirm this?

Thanks, and special thanks to Dorset Magic for discovering this. I'm sure if we can nail it down, Cakewalk can fix it quickly.

P.S. It's ironic that the patch that crashes Dim Pro 1.5 64-bit for me is called "Almost There"

Just to update this, Dorsett Magic can reproduce this bug. So that's two of us...

Confirmed. Dim Pro v1.5 x64 VSTi crashes SONAR 8.5.3 after playing a few notes with the "Almost Together" guitar patch. And changing both Random Unipolar depth values from 40 to 0 seems to eliminate the problem.

Same thing here. Certain patches seem to do it. Setting sample delay to zero seems to chill it out mostly.

Is this fed to Cake bug report system?

Reporting to Cakewalk support is not enough. There are certain individuals there that have a high threshold before it's on the todo-list in bugtracker.

Darn it its confirmed. Crash city.

    Edit to add;

This is the first time Dim pro has crashed for me.  This is the 1.5 release and 64 bits.

I will do the test with previous version, I did not upgrade to 1.5 due to reported issues with upgrade.

Can anyone get it to crash in a different host using the recipe?  That would help to determine where the problem may be.

    Hi
I have exactly the same problem - and 100% reproducible
Is there a fix out there anywwhere - it seems to have beenaround several years...!

    Patch Älmost Together"
Sonar locks after a few bars,
setting the value of Random Unipolar to zero fixes the problem.

    This is on X1 64-bit (Sonar X1Producer X1b - build255) - x64
Dim Pro 1.5 64-bit installed new with Sonar X1

    Thanks for any updates

Wow! Thanks!  Now, how do I save the preset, so that I don't have to do this every time I use that patch?  I don't know where the presets live, thanks.

Click the drop-down next to VST, and choose Save Preset.

Yep I tried "Almost There" and it crashed, but setting the Random Unipolar thing to 0 fixed it. Unfortunately this same problem also happens with certain RX2 loops, and in that case there is no Random Unipolar setting activated. I hope we can find some sort of workaround if Cakewalk is unwilling to fix it!

Here's an example to test on: go to 19-Drum Grooves in DPro. The fist loop, "dl_100_k1_lp06.prog" worked fine but the following one, "_lp04" crashes Sonar. Can anyone else confirm this?

POSSIBLE SOLUTION!!! It seems to crash ONLY if Sonar is set to a different tempo than the original RX2 file. If I change Sonar's tempo to match the loop, it doesn't crash. I'll keep testing it to confirm, but so far that seems to be the case.

Never mind, it's still crashing even when the tempo is the same. False hope. :(
