M-Audio Profire 2626 - SUPERloud pops when sample rate changes

I'm writing for a guy who's looking for an answer on a Finnish forum.

When auditioning wav-samples and clicking a sample of different sample rate from the previous, or when clicking an MP3 after a wav, or a wav after an MP3, he gets a explosionloud pop. The sound is so loud that he's put Profire mixer to -50 dB to tolerate it without earplugs. He's also put a volume controller between Profire and monitor speakers to keep the monitors in one piece.

Is there any other solution than manually changing Profires sample rate according to the sample to be played?

have you/he checked the m-audio forums about this?  not trying to say you can't find answers here, but if someone else has the same problem they'd likely post about it there.

I don't have the energy to go hiking on new forums .
I just jumped in the one I know. I did come to think about it, though.
    Thanks!
