Opening more than one file at the same time.

I upgraded from Home Studio 6 with Windows XP to Home Studio 7, now using Windows 7. I was always able to have more than one (midi) file open so as to compare and/or copy & paste between files. I am unable to have more than 1 file open in my new version. Am I missing something? I hope someone can give me good news, please!!!!

There's been several comments here on CW's nasty habit of cutting features from the new versions. Let's hope this not one of those...

Unfortunately I dont know the answer.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

I will bo SOOOOOOO dissappointed if they have taken away certain features, like being able to view more than one file at a time. I always thought an upgrade should be an improvement, otherwise what is the point of upgrading? Perhaps I should revert back to 6???

I am not running HS anymore, but will try to help.

By "MIDI file" I assume you mean you open multiple Cakewalk projects and then copy between them. If this is the case, then it might pay to look in the menu:

Global - Options - General tab

In SONAR 8 SE, there is a check box that says:

"Open only one project at a time"

If this exists in HS7, uncheck the feature and you should be good to go.

Rbecker's got you  on the right track.  I THINK they did remove that option, but if they didn't his plan will enable it for you.

I'll confirm.  that is one of the features which was removed from SHS7.  you are only allowed to open one project at a time in SHS7.

Thanks for the info, Guys. Unfortunately there isn't an option to uncheck "open only one project...". I think I wasted my money when upgrading to HS7.
