Duplicate MIDI notes - FIXED!

I just notice that a bass track has triplicate midi notes.  I have no idea how that happenned.  I guess I'll have to chalk it up to some kind of user error.  Is there a CAL program that gets rid of these?

What did you do to fix it?

I have had this happen. I had one a while back with like SIX of the same note copied over itself! I don't know how I did that, but think it was related to some copy & pasting I was doing.

Often duplicated notes are caused by a MIDI loop echoing notes again through a keyboard.

Guitartrek - You're leaving these folks dangling.  You fixed your problem, labeled the thread with FIXED--but then no info about your solution?  C'mon man, this is a Forum for sharing info!

Thanks, Jshep - Yes, that's the CAL script that will delete duplicated notes.  But the question is which user error caused the problem in the first place?

I have the same problem, but not only are they stacked but offset as well. Like the whole song duplicated and shifted to the right on the grid. Can I fix this with the same solution. I'm not at home right now.

Are the shifted ones in their own (overlapped) clip? See if layers will show if they are separated. Or if they are on two different midi channels, you can do Edit > Select > By Filter. Otherwise, would quantizing then UNDUPEing help?

The OP may have found a solution but that doesn't mean they found the original cause of the problem.

I have to agree with rbowser.  I don't think this is an "operator error" issue but rather a MIDI loop thing.  I have had this problem and been able to avoid it by disconnecting my MIDI In cable from my keyboard or other MIDI device during recording.  That physically breaks the loop.
