Can someone please recommend a signal generator.

Hi, i'm looking for a signal generator that works well in Sonar to create sub bass sine waves and white noise, it would be nice if it also had filters and a selectable frequency output.

Cheers
Steve.

Sub bass might be problem... the actual analog circuit of the appliance may be an issue... it may be hard for it to reproduce.

    Here's something to consider.

Adobe Audition has a full array of tone generation processes where you can easily create sound files of any length.

Perhaps you can get some time on a program like that and place some files on a portable recorder like a Zoom H4?

    Just a thought.

I have a cheapo Tenma test signal generator, a Shure 1khz tone generator... neither are something I'd recommend as an answer to your request.

    Good luck shopping.

    best regards,
    mike

Hi Mike, i think you must have misunderstood what i'm after, which is a vst plugin that can generate sine waves ect at a selectable frequency which i can then gate with a kick as the side chain to give the kick some extra sub bass.

    Cheers
    Steve.

Any analog-style soft synth (like the bundled Pentagon or PSYN II) should be able to do that for you, and you'll have the option of triggering it with MIDI, which might be easier than setting up side-chaining if the Kick is also from a synth.

Pentagon is a good one indeed.  I actually have a number of patches I made/use that do exactly what the OP wants.
there are other plugins that would work, but Pentagon is veyr tweakable in this regard.

Virtual minirator can do some of it:

    [/link]

I have recorded some various clips of noise,...  and now those wavs are available any time I wanna.

Then I use a gate on the bus the track is sent to.
