Music Creator 5 Won't Load

When I install program it stops with error message that it can't find source file - There is a scratch on the CD so I don't know if that has something to do with anything

Do you have a DVD reader in your computer? I think all Cakewalk programs are on DVD now, so if you only have a CD reader...
Some other fine folks will probably be along later with more suggestions.

yep... it is on a DVD.... and a CD drive will not read it.

If you do not have a DVD drive, carry the DVD and an 8gb thumb (USB) drive to a friend's house that does have a computer with a DVD drive.... copy the DVD to the thumb drive.....

You can install the program from the USB drive just as easily.

    Yes I do have a DVD -

I did see that the Multimedia Audio Controller has a Yellow Question mark - Had not noticed that before - I just reciently wiped this hard drive and have not connected this machine to the internet - Don't intend to and have just minimal programs running on it - For the last year or so I have had CW3 running on it - I took that program out trying to use this better program - Just not having any luck installing - Still not sure if you have any fix - Thanks for reading all these words and responding to my query - BE

then it may be the scratch causing the problem.  you can try copying the contents of the DVD onto your hard drive and installing from there and maybe that will tell you if it's a problem with the DVD or not.

I had to copy the DVD to a thumb drive because...... somehow, my OS was corrupted. All sorts of things would happen, plus lots of crashing.... so much so that I eventually copied all my stuff to disk and or external hard drive.... and reformatted and reinstalled the OS and all the apps....

Once I did that... MC5 on DVD loaded up properly.

So there could be any number of reasons why it doesn't run properly.

OK - I downloaded the files to my desktop and ran setup from there and it seemed to load up ok - Used my laptop here to register, and that seemed to go well also - What I am concerned about is weather I need the CD to access any other products - I hope all the tutorials are on the desktop as well - It seems the scratch on the CD effected running through my DVD -
