Mackie MCU & Sonar Guru's ..... need your HELP !!!

This is weird - I was just searching the Mackie forums and someone else had / has the same issue - in short
 
- we just picked up a dirt cheap Mackie Logic Control
- its running Firmware 1.0
- to get MCU mode - so it runs with Sonar - I need to update to the free 1.02 Firmware
- I downloaded the 1.02 Firmware
- but because MCU mode is not in it yet, Sonar cant  " use "  it
 
So, my queston is:-
 
=> how do I update to the 1.02 Firware from Sonar  ?

    You don't.  The firmware update is loaded from the computer through the MIDI cable, if I remember correctly.  Then you set it up to work with SONAR.  The website should have complete update and installation instructions - the procedure is a bit weird, but it works.

    The first part of the downloaded instructions is my dilemma:-

    1. Make sure your controller is plugged into the computer via MIDI and communicating with your preferred audio software application.

    As its a Logic Control, it wont / cant communicate with Sonar until the  1.02 updates applies the  MCU update whcih  Sonar needs - but Sonar wont see the Logic Control unless it is running in MCU mode .... Catch 22 if you know what I mean ?!?!
