track template export/import?

having difficulty exporting track template with the track events.

i'm trying to take two individual tracks of recorded vocals, with their mixer channels and fx, etc from one project and import them into another project.

i'm following the instructions for track template export, but nothing's happening.

any suggestions?
please / thank you

[<font]Are you getting the tracks set the way you exported the track template? When you save the track template, you save all the routing, effects etc but not the wav files. After you put the new tracks in from your template, you'll have to import the audio files from the other project.

As Guitarpima said Track templates only store all your settings and routings. If you want the actual wave files you need to export them.

Select the wave file you wish to export and then go to the menu File->Export->Audio

You'll need to do each file individually and then import them in the new project. Into you tracks that you create from your track templates if you wish.

Alternatively save the project under a different name and delete everything except the vocals.

You can import the audio files from the audio folder that the projects are saved in. The only hassle there is making sure you get the right recordings. Make notes of the tracks you want: name of track, the name of the clip in the clips pane, etc. it will make deciding which wav file is the right one easier.

If you do it the way you say, you will have to make sure that you don't export the wav files with the effects. It  will probably be easier but making sure it exports just like it was recorded is the tricky part.

That's a tricky one for sure, But as said the templates are just your settings for that or multiple tracks depending on which options you select before exporting. The track templates are different than the global templates too. They use a different file extension I think.
What I would try is mentioned above.
Save the template and import to new project.
Find the audio folder for your original vocals and drag and drop them onto the new tracks.
I find it a smart move to make sure you name a track before you hit the record button. Renaming a track after wards will not change the name of the file stored in the audio folder. Having clearly marked files in the audio folder makes it easier to sort them out when needed.
If you are not sure how to find the files check under global / folders to find your path ways.

That's easy just uncheck the relevant options in the export box. There's even a preset called "Raw Track - no fx". Far easier than hunting through audio files for meaningless named wave files.

thanks to all for the instructions and suggestions.

i figured out this afternoon that, among other things, i was failing to open the "source category" drop down box (on the main export page) and select "tracks" in order to get the separate tracks (stems) exported. the track  template exported and imported easily enough, but i was expecting the tracks to be with it. didn't realize that was another export/import of it's own. thanks again, it is cool of all you guys to offer that kind of help when it's needed... and fast too.

    rock on.
