Awesome DPC Latency fix!!!

Came across this..

http://www.martin-majowski.de/wlanoptimizer/

Between running that and disabling Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery in the device manager,  I got the DPC latency on  my laptop down to around 150..with the wifi on and while streaming music.   :)

It looks interesting, but it's more than a year old, and it's still in .21 alpha stage. Does it work reliably for you?

150 is good enough and is much better than 250 spikes which is what I get on my laptop. My desktop runs at 18-24 but I've messed with 3 different laptops and it's very hard to get the same results. Laptops have different BIOS I guess. My 250 spikes don't ever interfere but would be nice to kill them.
I'm going to give this a try on Monday. Will post my critique!

Had it running all day yesterday (first time I installed it)  and its been great so far.  There really inst much to the program and it basically just tweaks your wifi settings.  Its been great to stream music while I have my music programs open (I like to play along for practice).  Very handy.

    @ mike-

Yes that is very good.  Is your 15us on a laptop? with the wifi on running win 7?  I beleive I read somewhere a person saying their ADK laptop was around 300us, with the wifi off,  for comparison.  Couldn't find the link to the review though.

How hard do you want to push the machine?
My 3-year old MacBook Pro can get down to 24uSec.
That and a good TI chipset FW controller allow it to handily out-perform current off-the-shelf i7 based laptops.

An issue with off-the-shelf PCs (particularly bad with laptops) is that the manufacturer doesn't expose all possible BIOS parameters.
This is to ensure an inexperienced end user doesn't create a problem for him/her-self... and for tech-support.
Of course, this comes at the expense of not being able to achieve absolute best possible performance.

A current generation tower can idle in the 6-9 range with bumps here/there at ~14uSec.

    Best Regards,

Well,  if it doesn't interfere,  then really what's the difference?  I was geting spikes up to almost 1000 before i tweaked my Acer  laptop. It didn't interfere with anything either and I didn't get any drop outs and I played live with low latency and recorded guitarists and everything I normally do.  But it is annoying to look at the dpc that high and I guess its innate to want the perfect machine.   But  I learned as long time ago...if it aint broke,  don't keep fixing it till it is.

Way to true for me right now! This is an Acer as well TM4000 2004

Messing with the round trip Latency I thought I'd see if Tascam had new drivers for the us1641. My RTL is around 28ms.
Last time I checked it was V 1.02, They now have a V2.0 so I downloaded them and tried a update. Stalled and timed out. Messed around for an hour and now it's all screwed up completely can't even get the original CD to install!!!!!

It wasn't broken, now it is! I can hardly wait to get a new machine, but now I'm pissed at tascam again.

I feel your pain!  Been there a lot myself.  We all have at some point im sure.  Well,  tempting as it may be,  dont throw it out the window or smash it with a bat just yet,  lol.

I always take a little calming break and then come back to tackle the situation.
