Sonar and Ensoniq ESQ-1

Just picked up an Ensoniq ESQ-1 for cheap and was wondering if any Sonar users out there have one.

Any tips or info about this would be cool. Also looking for the instrument definition if there is one available.

Thanks!

Esq -1 has cartridge's for sounds, those might be hard to find.. Like I said the sounds are very 80's sounding , but very cool, This was my first keyboard , First time I ever programmed any thing was on the  esq -1  .., then I had the eps for awhile and then the asr, ASr had a sampler, one of the first samplers ,it  used 3.5 floppies revolutionary. Then I went big time with the Akai s950 lol,.. for what you paid for the esq -1 . its worth having..

    Great underrated keyboard!
There are a number of Sysex files that can be downloaded... there are a lot of mediocre sounds, but finding some of the better ones really shows what can be done with this synth (you could always program them yourself too, but there's always something that someone else comes up that maybe you wouldn't have thought of).

Try looking at these yahoo groups:
    ESQseMe
    ESQ1SQ80
    ESQ1

Here is a great website with tons of ESQ info, patches and more:
    http://www.buchty.net/ensoniq/

More ensoniq resources, but not all of the links are current:
    http://www.synthzone.com/ensoniq.htm

    Enjoy the synth!

I got the ESQ-1 when it first came out then traded-up to the ESQ-80 later on.  Great keyboard! I particularly liked the Bass sounds, I know a friend in a heavy metal band performing live using the ESQ-80 bass and it cut through the wall of live guitars and drums very easily. Impressive, the ESQ-80 has great 'grungy' sounds and nice pads.

Unfortunately way back then whilst I was using Sonar.4, I sold the ESQ-80 and never used the k/b definitions.

Did you try the Ensoniq Various INS at CW.net?  Click Here

    Good luck!

    .

I still use my old SQ-1 Plus - just as a midi device.  I have all my old floppies.  I reminisce and jam on some old school sounds once in a while.

What do you mean by "instrument definition"?

The instrument definition that loads into Sonar so it knows what presets the synth has.

I think I already have it with Sonar, so thanks for the replies.
