Any use a tv instead of a computer monitor ? Whats your thoughts on it ?
Hi guys This is my set up at the momment http://www.flickr.com/pho..9005534@N02/4994370830/ I have 2 samsung monitors there as you can see but I am geting very anoyed with the space between the two monitors Anyways...... I have a 42inch Lg flat screen ful HD 1080p with HDMI and computer conections to it so I could use it in the studio if I move the speekers a bit left and a bit right. My graphics card has HDMI aswell...... In my head I think It would be kick ass to do this instead of the 2 samsungs but I dont know if any one thinks I would be off my head to do this ? So anyone any thoughts or is any one already useing a flat screen instead of a computer scren that could tell be how they feel about it ? Thanks to all Norrie

I am suggesting you compare the pixels dimensions you are using now to the TV you are considering. Does that make sense? best, mike

42" screen that all ;) .. a composer / customer where I worked for years ago.. he had the walls as his screens and an overhead projector.. BUT he was composing for a lot of string parts.. try it.. see how you get on. I use 2x17" monitors.. long are the days gone of an atari ST and a 14" or was it 12" monochrome monitor (I still have mine.hehe)

Hey yeah its 2x 17inch monitors I have at the momment but the LG id just gathering dust in the other room lol Since I got my Vs700 I think I watched the tv once haha So anyway I did some tests today the Samsung 17inchs are 1280 x 1024 and The LG is 1920 x 1080 I took the computer in and pluged it in to the LG to see what I looked like.... AWESOME is all I can say haha So now just to try and make it fit in my studio then I can have the LG as my main and the 2x samsungs on aswell one left and one right Yes I do like to have things a bit over the top some times :P I think I may have some issues lol Norrie

So you were successful at getting all three monitors to work at once with your video card? That's great! best regards, mike

I had the Lg working through the HDMI on the graphics card and I have ben useing the 2xsamsung on the vga or what ever they are ports so I tryed the LG and one samsung works and both work so should be ok to put the other one in aswell. 1 problem Is going to be mounting the LG to the wall as its Just a giprock wall with not a lot of studs to fit it to and the shelf I have Is the bigest I could fit in and fit the desk in with a slight mod to the desk If I could I would put the LG just siting there on the shelf like in this pic http://www.flickr.com/pho..9005534@N02/4994370830/ The bass on the lg At the momment is 12inch to stop it tiping forwards and the area on the shelf I can put it siting on is about 6inch so would be too much of an over hang ;( Only option is to find a way to mount it to the wall some how I dont think I could get another stand like what is attached to the LG but smaller Ive been looking but with no luck ;( I will get you a pic If I get it all put up soon Mike I may pm you about some things I saw of interest to me on your web site if thats ok? I shall do that latter. Thanks again and take care guys

I helped someone mount a 52" flat screen and the centre vertical bracket was made in such a way as to screw into the nearest stud, then the horizontal cross bars could be moved about 10" either way. We put it right were he wanted it no problem. We used the supplied #10x3" screws. Not earthquake proof but there's a couch underneath it so only possibly the cat will be killed.

My dad is doing this with his LCD 45" flat screen and I must say, it's bad ass!! No more squinting, editing waveforms is so much easier, piano roll data looks like bricks lol! I like it so much, I am about to do this myself :) I rarely watch TV and am always in the studio!
It's not what we're doing, it's how you do it :)

At a session in the studio the other day I hooked up my projector to the laptop> It's about 6' wide 4' high! Helped the singer follow the track as you can see the cues coming. Projectors are only $500 but they are very loud.

Its funny you should say that johnny When I first started out drumming years ago hen I went in to the studio I wasnt very good wit the click track so I was given a screen to watch and I was then playing bang on years on now I can play to a click no problems Ive had a few guitarests up to play recently and when they have a click on they arent used to playing to its a bit strange for them but once you explain you can follow the screen aswell it al clicks for them and makes it easyer My big tv is going to be the way to go for my studio I think if it makes life easyer and like Rockoman above says piano roll view is awesome on a big screen and editing waves will be awesome when I click fill track to screen haha Norrie
