Envelopes on multiple outputs

I'm using a plugin with multiple outputs, and I want to create automation envelopes for the different sounds that go to those different outputs.
For some reason I can only create automation envelopes for that plugin on the first output, but not on the others.
How do I create plugin automation on outputs other than the first output?

You need to have a separate audio track putting each of the synths outputs and then you insert an envelope into each audio track.

So you need to configure that soft synth so you have an audio track for each of its outs.
Do you know how to do that? If not, then just use the insert menu and select insert soft synth to use the synth rack to insert soft synth and select multiple outs as the source. Make sure you have the MIDI source checked so you get a midi track also.

You didn't understand me. I'll post pics:

All the drums tracks (kick hats etc) are outputs from a single plugin (Nerve).
When I right click the kick track which is the first output, I can add automation for Nerve.
But when I right click the second, the option disappears:

My point is to add different envelopes for each of the sounds (kick and hats) on their respective tracks, but it does not let me.

Which parameter in Nerve are you trying to control?

Maybe I'm dense, but what parameter of Nerve x64 will be modified by that envelope? I'm guessing it's a global parameter in Nerve that applies to all outputs. That might be a limitation of the plug, rather than a limitation of SONAR.

    Why does it matter?
Some are global parameters, some are per output. It doesn't show up at all.
Also, when inserting a synth, it asks where to put the envelope, with the first audio output being the default. Maybe it has something to do with that?

Yes, I would guess so. I don't think I've ever seen the Insert synth dialog ask that, so it must be plug-specific. Can you post a screenshot of that?

Duh. Okay. I get it now. Never noticed that.

And, yes, I can reproduce the problem with Session Drummer 3. It exposes a volume parameter for every output, for example, but the envelopes all have to be displayed on the same track. So it does appear to be a SONAR limitation. Kind of goofy, for sure.

Linked them to here. I hope they actually read and implement it.
I mean, why limit automation to only one output? Why not on more than one?
I understand that it can matter when recording automation, so it will know where to put it, but when writing it myself - doesn't matter.

What is described is automation of the plugin. Since there is only one instance of the plugin any automation of that plug in will affect all outputs. This make sense.

If the plug's parameters were able to be changed by multiple envelopes for the same knob 'twould be very unpredictable. Hence the restriction.

CJ is correct about track automation. So if you want to control a particular output do so.

And, if it is important to change any of the plug's settings for a particular sound, start another instance of the plug, with the desired outputs.

I'm not talking about controlling the same plugin parameter using multiple envelopes. I'm saying I should have the option of showing envelopes for the same plugin on different tracks (outputs for that matter). Or maybe even making a dedicated envelope track.
What happens if I have 10 parameters I'm controlling on a single output track? Having 10 lines displayed on a single track can get very messy and I'd like a way to seperate it.

Yea, lots of requests for automation lanes/tracks.

For now, just do not assign any audio to output 1.

    Indeed.
Thinking on it now, I think the best solution would be to have a dedicated automation track(s).

Yes, we've seen this mentioned many, many times on here.

For now you'll have to get used to having multiple envelopes on the one track.
