Are there more plug-ins for Sonar 7?

I've been away from performing and recording for a long time but have found new time, energy and motivation to get back into writing, arranging and recording.  I recently upgraded to Sonar Home Studio 7xl from Cakewalks Home Studio and found the learning curve to be more difficult than I had hoped.  Don't get me wrong, what I have learned so far is incredible and I am blown away with the potential and tools that are available in this great package.  In my quest to better learn how to do the simplest functions, the manual which came with the program is vague at best (or should I say that it is geared toward someone who has a better understanding to this technology).  I checked the internet and purchased a book by Scott R. Garrigus called Sonar 7 Power!  The Comprehensive Guide.  In the book it talks about a bunch of plug-ins which come with the Sonar 7 in addition to Cakewalk TTS-1.  He talks about DreamStation, Pentagon I, PSYN II, Cyclone, RXP REX Player, ReValver, and Rapture LE.

Are these plug-ins within Sonar 7xl?  Is the author mistaken?  If so, were the plug-ins available in previous versions of Sonar?  Am I missing out on some great sounds in these plug-ins?  If so, are they available somewhere as freeware or for purchase?

Thanks to anyone who could help this old noob get a handle on modern day recording.

Sonar 7 Power is written for Sonar 7 Producer Edition, not Sonar Home Studio 7.  the plugins and softsynths he discusses are not available in SHS7.

most of the FUNCTIONS available in Sonar 7 PE are available in SHS7 (but not all of those) so the book can be very useful, but if you want a book specifically about SHS7, you need "Making Music with Sonar Home Studio" by Craig Anderton

Thanks Beagle for the info and the link.  I will get Anderton's book so I can learn the specifics of my program.

    dkh,

The Craig Anderton book suggested by Beagle is great - I highly recommend it.

I also recommend "Cakewalk Synthesizers - from Presets to Power User" 2nd edition by Simon Cann ( I bought my copy through Amazons for about AUS$ 40.00). This gives you a good understanding of the range of Cakewalk synths - some of which you will have with HS 7 XL, some which you can download from Cakewalk for nothing (or next to nothing) and it also covers the wonderful Z3TA+ which is now available from Cakewalk for a ridiculously low US$ 20.

This book will also stand you in good stead should you choose to upgrade to Sonar Producer at some later stage and get Rapture and Dimension Pro.

Like you I'm both enjoying and being challenged by the learning curve - but it's worth it!

    Regards

    Graham

There's a lot read in the help files. The booklet is just a quick start guide.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.
