Why I LOVE jBridge

Very happy with this inexpensive add-on to the SONAR 8.5 64bit world.  Here's why:

If you are ONLY utilizing bit-bridge for a 32bit plug, the plug-in is not able to save in an easy format.   You have to export your newly-created preset into a folder (like DOCUMENTS) and name it within that whole folder frame-up.  Then when you have to recall the preset, you often have to go to the "Load BanK" of the plug-in gui, relocated the folder you allocated for that preset and load it up.  BLAH!  What a waste!

With J-Bridge, the old 'vsti-gui within SONAR presets drop-down' are accessible the way y'all have come to know and love.  Reach up to the top of the VSTi's gui, name and save.  That's it!  It'll be called up with the project you're working on.

I discovered this using a reloading of Sonic-Timeworks EQ.  Using Bit-bridge...what a hassle!  Using J-bridge.  Easy.

jBridge - all the way.

I thought Sonic Timeworks EQ was a DXi plug?

    Ah yes brothah...it is!

BUT, if you get the DXi shell/wrapper that the j-bridge dude refers to on his site and THEN incorporate j-bridge as the device that picks up the newly converted DXi (now a new VST) plugin, all is well!

    Quote from the J-Bridge site:

    18 – “How about DX/DXi plugins?”
Although I can’t offer (much) support for this, it was interesting to verify that DX/DXi plugins can be used in 64bit VST hosts by combining jBridge with Frank Potulski’s excellent mfx/dx/dxi wrapper dxshell. You’ll need to bridge the dll(s) created by the wrapper.
You can find Frank’s wrapper here:

You can read more about it here:
    http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=177538&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0"

DXi's can work in 8.5 64bit Sonar /Win 7.  No issues!  I got Livesynth Pro going...HQ Orchestral (though saving projects with that device/vst and its preset structure are a bit weird...can be done though!).

    +1

J-bridge is excellent, I bought it just after I upgraded to x64 and wanted to get a vst going (can't remember which one now), and haven't looked back since. I hear it's been integrated in 8.5, in 8.3 a plugin has to be set up with the jbridge installer but it's still well worth the effort.

Ok, I understand.  I've already got the DXi wrapper running and Bitbridge 2 has picked up the Timeworks plugins for me.  I wondered if maybe Jbridge had a combination of both wrapping and bridging included.

Is there anything else that set jBridge apart from BitBridge? I find it annoying that BitBridge windows are always on top. Does jBridge get around that too? Also, does jBridge work happily alongside BitBridge?

Yes, and yes. The first yes is why I love Jbridge.

I see this thread is being bumped for reasons indirectly related to the original subject.

I personally had no luck making dxshell work with any of the DXis I tried, but here's the clearest procedure I found:
