Tc-helicon voiceworks being used as a vst anyone ?

I bought a voice works because I thought it would be a nice bit of kit for my home studio and I am very glad I did.

Ok so here is whats goin on......

I have everything set up and working great

I use Sonar producer8.5.3 I have it linked through my V700 so I can record a dry sound then audition the voice works sounds over the top then when I am happy with the sound do an audio freeze of the track and BAM its done :D

I heard there was a download that would let me use the unit as a vst plug in ? (Is this true can some one please confurm this for me ?)

I downloaded what I thought was it from the website but when I install it and try to load it its not loading properly

I am useing windows 7 64

Any one know if this is a 32bit - 64 bit issue ?

I emailed Tc-helicon tec support about a week ago about the issue but they have yet to answer......

I have actualy set it up like a vst in sonar so I aint that botherd if I dont get the plug in to work but......

What I have done is set it up to use the pre amp on the Vs700 then send from out put one to the voice works then back to the VS 700 input 1-2
With the external insert set up.

That way I can audition efx over the dry sound just like I would a vst and its really cool to do that.
Its my first bit of out board gear I have bought so I am happy I got it working like that but there is problems......
when I turn on the external insert it makes the vocals very quiet;(

So I tryed increasing the line in on the voiceworks but then it just starts to clip on the meeter thats on the voiceworks and starts sounding distorted.

I then bring the line in level back down and try in creasing the sends and returns in the external insert and same thing it will clip on the voice works but it will also then clip on the send and return in the external efx window.... But not actualy on the track in sonar.(its very strange)

So if I then turn the efx off again I am back to a nice loud dry signal just like I recorded but with out the use of the voice works

I need to find a way to get the levels up and keep them sounding good no cliping etc when I am auditioning them

I am out of ideas and I am very new to recording with out board gear as I said this is my first bit I have bought so is a big learning curve for me any help on geting it sounding good would be awesome.

    Thanks to all

You need to trace the entire signal chain and find out why it gets quiet after turning ont he external insert.
You will find the problem, when you trace the signal chain. If i was there with you, thats exactly what I would do

So - set your send so the Voice works input meter is correct level, Changing your insert send will also drive it over the top so leave that alone once set. Now mess with your return levels only!

If it is as you say"sensitive" to level then you have a serious miss match of impedance.
Most audio gear is designed to run at unity gain. On dials that is around 2 O clock or 3/4 travel of a fader.
Any time you have to turn something to 1 or to 10 something is wrong. It is not matched. Thus the gain pads etc.
Look on the back of your EFX unit and see if there are pad switches or what do the inputs say -10db  +6db ?

Hey johnny there Is a pad on the fron of the voiceworks its -20 so I have that turned of the same as I have it turned of on my Vs700 input

Ive played about a bit with the line in the sends and the return matching them all up a bit better and I seem to have found a better level :) now its only peeking at around -6 or -12 db

I am ignoreing the meeter on the voice works as much as I can at the momment as most of the time its siting at a good level then decides to peek then come straight back down but useing my ears it sounds fine and its not peeking on the send and return on the External inserts in sonar

I think I can live with it like this now though so thats another thing I have learned :D

Now my next one is here if you get a chance to have a look http://forum.cakewalk.com...70&mpage=1#2095370

Like Ive said before I am sooooo new to recording so every step is a new step for me at the momment and any advice is good advice so I cant thank you all enough

I just dont want every one to fell like I am pestering them with questions but like some one once told me If you dont ask you will neer know......

Sorry If anyone feels like I am being a pain I really am sorry. I am just trying to make the most of everything and learn as much as I can.

    Thanks again everyone
