M Audio Fast Track and Sonar Cakewalk 8

Hey guys,

I am looking for some help if possible please

I am setting up my M-Audio Fast Track with Cakewalk 8 and I have a very strong signal going into the channel (or fader I think its known as) yet it does not register on the track when I hit record.

The screenshot above shows I am getting a strong signal into the channel but it doesnt record when I try to record on the channel.

I can hear my guitar fine coming through the speakers ...... everything seems fine but Cakewalk wont record the signal.

Any help would be gratefully received. Many thanks
Dokken

what do you have listed as your PLAYBACK and RECORDING DEVICES in the OPTIONS>AUDIO menu?

sometimes USB cards will "lose" their way.  try closing sonar, unplugging the fast track, replugging the fast track then restarting sonar.

try switching to ASIO driver mode and see if that clears it up.

    Hi mate,

Above are images to my settings using ASIO .... I still get the same result - plenty sound, strong signal etc but no record when I try to record. With the ASIO setting anytime I start cakewalk I get the message 'There are no Creative products installed and running on the system that support ASIO'. However when I start Cakewalk up I get sound, signal etc but no record.

I have set my sound to only use M Audio both for playback and record and disabled my Audigy card ...... so only my M-Audio is working as my total soundcard ...is that correct to do that?

All the best and I appreciate your help Beagle

    Hey Beagle,

Wey hey I have now got it working and recording .... yippeee :-)

Still one problem though .... which I think will most likely be minor ........ when i'm recording sometimes it 'stutters' ....kinda cuts out then straight back in again ........ doesnt do it all the time but at least once every take I make at playing a 4-5 minute track.

    Any ideas buddy
All the best and thanks so much for your help
