SONAR 8.5 slow down when freeze
Using SONAR 8.5.3 PE, I've noticed that the system slows down when I freeze my tracks. This doesn't happen with the same project in SONAR 8 PE. Neither if I attached several WAVs (audio tracks) to a project, or when I'm working with the tracks in MIDI mode. The system slows down only when I freeze my VST tracks. Just freezing 3 or more tracks is quite impossible to make a fluid horizontal scroll (having a Quad-Core). Does anyone perceive this trouble? thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum. I've never witnessed PC slowing down after freezing. On the opposite. Freezing is supposed to free CPU and memory resources. It's a good habit to list your gear specs when asking a question. It's easiest to put them in the signature. What soundcard and driver mode are you using? A scroll problem indicates a video card problem, I guess (if the playback works otherwise normally), but the fact that PE8 works normally and that there doesn't seem to be relation to the actual size of the project is puzzling.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Thanks for the response, but this is totally crazy. My system: Intel Q9300 QuadCore, 4GB RAM, Asus EAH3450 (512 Mb), EMU 0404, SONAR 8.5.3 under Windows XP SP3 32 bits I've tried to reinstall SONAR, graphic card drivers and update Windows, and I've noticed that if I un-frezze and re-freeze every track, it goes fine. But when I save and restart SONAR with the same project, the track panel slows down again. It seem that it can't refresh the tracks panel in the main window, even when I change to another app and back to SONAR the tracks panel delays about 3 seconds on paint. Also 3 seconds refresh each time I click horizontal scroll. And as I said, this occurs only with freezed tracks, not with audio or midi tracks. Any idea?

Hey I have same problem and I can see its a hard drive thing because the hard drive activity goes to 100% before hitting play and when moving through the tracks it lights up for a moment. Any body nows about this?

what is the speed of your hard drive? how big is it? how much % is it full? when was the last time you defragged it?

I have a raid 0 configuration of three hitachi 500gb hard drives working at 7200 rpm. It has about 150gb free. The weird thing is that it only starts to work pretty poorly with those vst I freezed. When I hide the tracks on a folder track and there not displayed it starts working fine again. The more tracks ar displayed the worse it is. I think some configuration or if theres some possibility to load the tracks to ram or something like that it might work. This is pretty important please help. Sorry for my english.

The OP's problem doesn't look identical to Gabomedellins to me, but I'm not sure. It would be interesting to know if the OP got it solved. The thread is seven months old. Tracks that are in folders are read just like the visible ones, thus taxing CPU, aren't they? If it's the visibility of the tracks that is the key thing then my suspect #1 is something in the videocards settings or drivers.

I also thought about that but its so strange. How can I make shure if the video card is involved?

I have even thought about the tracks loading in the video card memory or something. Is that insane? Well the problem is driving me pretty insane.
