Nice article.  Last year my brother went to China on business. (I forget which city exactly...) I asked him to pick me up a random cheap Chinese ribbon mic. He came back with a "short ribbon/long path" type according to that article. It cost $5, and included the nice padded case and shock mount. It's quite a decent sounding mic, especially for $5. I'd probably have paid upwards of $80 for it here

My favorite aspect of it is that it's completely un-badged. No markings on it whatsoever. I'm still trying to decide how to spruce it up visually.

Put an old RCA logo on it. Here are two cool e-bay auctions

Those RCA logos would cost more than the mic!

I'm thinking I want to embrace the China-ness of the thing. So maybe a dragon.

Ooooo yes ! I like that.  Do a search on "dragon pin" on e-bay. Lots of cool mic logo looking stuff out there.
