Getting the Tone

Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forums. Prior to this I was in the analogue generation of 4-8 track recorders. I've been using guitar tracks pro 4 over the last month and was just wondering if the majority of folks were using the included Guitar Rig software or POD/Line 6 stuff, etc....

I have a Roland UA700 with built in COSM models but I don't like the sound .... I have purchased a Line 6 Toneport and I'm looking for more luck with that

Thanks !

Andy

I hate guitar rig theres just something about it I dont like It .... I keep going back to it but theres something I can put my finger on as to why i hate it haha

I use pod farm as my plug in in Sonar 8.5 and I hate it but not as much as guitar rig!!!!!!

Its got a few good sounds and about a million sh*t sounds in the line 6 gear.

I am moveing to out board guitar sounds have just orderd the behringer Vamp pro rack unit and the Bass pro rack unit  as I have heard good tihngs and only costs £99 each!

If you are looking for onboard guitar sounds Ive heard good things about amplitube ? Might be worth you trying that I think theres a free 10day try kicking about on the net if you google it you might find it..... If I find it I wil send you the link :)

    Awesome man !

Keep in touch then!!!! Sounds like we are in the same boat looking for good guitar sounds and not geting themfrom plugins ?

I will be geting mine in a couple of days and I will be seting it up so basicaly....( I will try explain this the best I can)

Record a Vamp sound then be able to tweek it after the recording

I do that with My tc helicon voiceworks it records a dry signal then adjust the unit until I get the sound I want then do an audable bounce to wave on that track and thats it done :D

Just like useing a vst plugin but from a bit of out board!!!!! :D

My plan is to do the exact same thing with the Vamp pro when it comes so I will let you know how I get on unless you already know how to do it and could tell me ????

(basicaly Use the Vamp like a vst plugin like podfarm guitar rig etc)

I've tried a lot, and I'm sold on Amplitude, I have the Fender, and Metal versions, and they are very tweakable, and just seem to "sound", more like a real rig! Just my opinion, of course, but good luck, and happy hunting!

I use a variety of things for guitar. I use the included Guitar Rig 3 LE, with Sonar 8.5 and I also use the gold version of the Pod Farm. I will also take the line out from my GXN 3 pedal and record with that. I have started playing with a fun plug-in http://www.acmebargig.com/shred/

With the Shred plug-in try to find the button on the GUI that lets you change pick-up simulations.
This is where I found a lot of good usable tones to be hidding.
Most of my music to date was recorded using Pod Farm with a couple using the GNX3. I used the bass amp on one using GR3 LE. I am still just playing with the Shred plug-in, but hope to record something soon. Shred is free to try, so nothing lost but some time. I really like what they have been able to do.
