Sonar 8.5 audio problems

Recently I bought a new sound card, namely the Mackie Onyx Blackjack. I have both the 32 and 64 bit versions of Sonar 8.5 Producer edition installed on my laptop (windows 7 64bit). before I got the Blackjack, I had dumped my m-audio FTU and was just using the built in soundcard with ASIO4All, everything was fine. Now that I installed the Blackjack and everything, the audio is EXTREMELY choppy with clicks and pops all over the place in both versions of Sonar.
Outside Sonar, sounds are fine. I've tried all my USB ports, reinstalling the Blackjacks drivers, pretty much everything. Also, at first the audio started chopping up only after the first windows or instant message or whatever sound played, now it just chops up when I start Sonar.

I'm kinda desperate, I have a deadline for some songs and I can't work.

additional info:
my laptop has 6GB RAM and intel core 2 duo processor @2.13Ghz.

Have you gone into the Sonar Audio settings to make sure it's using the new soundcard?
You may want to also try increasing the ASIO latency setting if all you're doing now is mixing.

The ASIO4All may be causing some interference, but I'm less familiar with it than others on the forum.

Along the way you're likely to get some advice that laptops are not the best platform for doing advanced audio work because generally you want 7200 RPM hard drives and a dedicated hard drive for your audio files.   But that sort of advice doesn't help you meet your deadline so let's focus on that.

    ASUS P5ND/Intel E8500, Line6 Toneport UX2/PODFarm, Sonar, Axiom 25, Blue Bluebird, Audio-Technica AT3035s, Blue Snowflake, Line6 Spider IV 150 & AMPLIFI, Crate 1

yes, I've tried messing around with the latency and uninstalled ASIO4All. The only audio drivers Sonar has available are exactly the Blackjacks.

unfortunately I didn't hear about that until after the damage was done.

I'd been trying stuff now, it seems to randomly work properly and not.

The Hang Type could indicate an HDD malfunction. How old is your Hard drive ?

    Windows 8.1 X64 Sonar Platinum x64
    Custom built: Asrock z97 1150 - Intel I7 4790k - 16GB corsair DDR3 1600 - PNY SSD 220GB
Focusrite Saffire 18I8 - Mackie Control
