Connecting Keyboard to Windows 7 64 Bits Latency

I have an old casio WK-1800 keyboard, and use Sonar 7 Producer Edition, and confess im quite new to this. My problñem is I connected the keyboard with a USB midi interface, and i can hear it, but there is great latency, i mean between the time i hit the key till it sounds back it's almost a second. Im using a core 2 duo processor with Windows 7 64 bits, so processor speed doesn't seem to be the problem. Any help is appreciated

    Welcome to the forums.
Please give the forum more information about the midi interface and soundcard you are using. Also the current settings you see when in SONAR you go into the menu 'Options'...Audio'...'General' and 'Advanced' tabs.

There are various places that latencies can creep in. Some in SONAR and some with your soundcard/audio interface. Look in the SONAR online help and search on 'latency'. Also, a similar search on 'drop outs' also provides a lot of info on various audio issues. Don't forget to search the cakewalk forums for previous 'latency' related threads. This might be a quick way to find and answer to your latency questions.

Go to Options-Audio-Advanced and set the driver mode to WDM or ASIO.
