OK...I had a hard time following that.....

please write concisely and in detail EXACTLY what you have hooked up, computer details like soundcard used...out board gear and signal routing..... this would help a bit.....no actually, a lot.

Sorry bout that but i am not really sure about the technical stuff. For example: when i am recording just my guitar, it will also record the stereo coming out of the computer. Like when i use a metronome, you can hear the metronome in the recording when i play it back. I dont have it set up to play the metronome during playback. It never used to do this before so i am just thinking that it is a computer setting that i need to change.

for the metronome..... there is the option to have the metronome sound or be quiet,,,,, and to select if it just plays on RECORD or also if it is audible on PLAYBACK. All of the functions of the metronome are adjustable, even what it sounds like and how loud the beats play.

I would guide you to this window, but I don't go there often so I can't do it from memory.... but it is in the drop-down list of the top tool bar.  probably in  Options Audio.....

I have a similar problem in an opposite way that I found curious.  On one of my computers I have a program that I use to record things like Line In or what you hear, etc.  I use this to record and save radio programs that I listen to online or shows that I tape on a cassette recorder.  Now on the computer on which I have MC4 installed a program such as that will not work and I've tried a bunch.  If I try and record a show online (Have not tried Line In) It appears to record but I have to turn the speaker volume all the way up and then you can just make out a faint audio.  Would anyone have a clue why an MC4 install would make a utility like this inoperable?  It's not a big deal as I can still do it on the other pc but like I said it's a just a puzzle.

As I said, I have two computers.  On one computer I have software with which I record online radio programs and stuff that I record to a cassette machine.  This is basically "what you Hear" and "Line IN".  It's Polderbits but it doen't matter as it could be Audigy or any other of a plethora available.
Now on my other computer I have MC4 installed.  And apparently because MC4 is installed on that computer software programs like I described above do not work as intended.  Was just curious as to why that might be if anyone knew.  It's just a puzzle and a curiosity but it's not a big deal.

On the MC 4 computer, you may need to set that program to output through the Saffire. It may be sending the stuff to a different device that's not connected.
All of my audio programs are output to Focusrite DirectSound.
Plus, if you have MC open at the same time, you may have the 'Share Drivers With Other Programs' box unchecked in MC>Options>Global. That would prevent the audio from being produced while MC is open.

MC uses ASIO drivers and they are not sharable. If there is another app that uses ASIO and it is opened first, MC will not be able to access those drivers.... at least that's how it is for me with my DAW's.

thanks Gregy and Hacker.  When I get that computer hooked back up I'll try playing around with the settings.  The radio shows and whatnot go through the onboard soundcard which is what the radio recording program should be using but as Hacker said since the Saffire uses ASIO I don't know if the radio recording software will record and output through the saffire.  Fortunately this isn't a big deal just a brain teaser.  But thanks for the effort and input.

you can always change the drivers that a specific program uses by default. I was able, on my lappy to be running MC4 on the ASIO drivers and at the same time have other apps running on the built in sound card....using other drivers.
