This is not the same issue but ...on a related note....
I'm in the security biz and the issue here with CCTV (camera systems) is the flat screen monitors are very expensive and have lower resolution than the old bulky TV style monitors. Everyone is liking the space and weight savings so they seem to be the way to go. However, the resolution is crappy unless you really want to lay down some serious money.
Just out of curiosity, I picked up a hi-def TV from a local big box retailer. This model had the RCA video input on it and with a buck for an adapter, I was able to send the video into the TV. The customer and I both love the resolution.
The downside is, the TV is not designed to be on 24/7 so I instructed the customer to turn it off when not viewing his cameras.
