Metronome settings

Hey, all,  Longtime no post.   Just a quickie, I hope...
I have been doing some recording on my own, without the band, and was trying to set the metronome to different tempos at different points in the song.  I am by no means an accomplished musician, so timing, tempos and such are weird to me.  Let's say I start out in 4/4 and after so many measures go to 5/8?  how do I get the 'nome to do that?  Is there somewhere I can type in the tempo I want?  This has probably been answered before....

    Tempo and time signature are different things as you know.
    Both can be set to different values during the song. Go to Insert>Meter/Key Change or Insert>Tempo Change and set it to what you want.
    Be careful the Insert New Tempo button or Insert New Meter Key Change buttons aren't checked or that will change the entire song. Select Enter New Tempo and the place in the song you want the change to happen.

    One thing people often forget doing tempo changes is that if you copy/paste midi-clips, there's a tempo definition in each clip. If you paste a 120 bpm clip on an area where you've set the tempo to 100 bpm, the clip stays in 120 bpm.

    I don't know, if that's the case with time signatures as well - could be it is.

    kalle is right... I remember pasting a clip that retained it's original tempo..... had to edit it specifically.
