static noise

Hello, everyone, I'm new here. Some years back I had some success using one of the earlier versions of CW MC. Now I've purchased a new Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, running Windows 7. I've recently installed my new version of MC 5 onto the new computer and yesterday I received the Cakewalk UA-1G audio interface. I can finally plug my guitar directly into the computer. The audio sounds good, but I'm hearing loud static bursts of noise (ususally lasting 3-5 seconds) when I'm recording and listening to the playback, and the static persists even after the playback is finished. I believe I've trouble - shot the problem to the best of my (somewhat limited) abilties; any help/advice/suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks, Sean Lawson.

    tell us more... is this in an audio track using the guitar simulator or is it occurring in everything?

    If it's in an audio track with the Amplitude plug in... you need to register the plug in to a full operational mode.... follow the instructions to register it with the servers and the noise goes away. Sounds like you're running it in demo mode.

    According to the Dell product page, your OS is 64-bit, is that correct?
    If so, you may need to download and install the MC 5 update (the link for the update is in one of the stickies at the top) and run MC 5 in 32-bit compatibility mode since it's not 64-bit compatible.
    But yes, it sounds like Ampltube is making the noise, but let us know if that isn't the problem.

    Looks like it was the Amplitude plug in; I registered the product and deleted the effect from the track that was giving me static - the noise is gone. Thanks!
