Ah, so increasing the CPU speed, which I am doing via this upgrade, should decrease the perceived latency of triggering soft synths via my USB keyboard controller (Edirol PCR-A30)?  I'll try to test that out as soon as I get Sonar up and running.

Are there any USB/midi interfaces to avoid?  If so, for what reason(s) might they be deficient?

Just got a cheap ($10) MIDI to USB cable.  Works perfectly fine, with no noticeable latency.

Got the Delta44 up and running too.

I have 2 options for audio input of the mic:

a) editor PCR-A30
b) onboard sound (Realtek)

In addition, I just realized that if I'm using exclusively soft synths, I don't need any line-ins from the Triton, so there's another couple input channels.

No need to buy anything else!

i give up....

one more time

arrggg
if you want fast samples you need a Separate samples drive stop trying to put them on your OS drive
thats more than 1/2 the speed issue. synths/loops are ok on an os drive samples are not...
and you dont need a fast OS drive either.

Hi Scott,

I am upgrading my DAW, and will put my sample libraries on a separate drive from the OS.  But... do they need to be on a separate PHYSICAL drive, or can they be in a separate, extended PARTITION?  Since I also use my DAW for Outlook and Word, I am planning 1 physical drive for the OS + program files in the extended partition, and a 2nd physical drive for audio projects + samples in the 2nd drive's extended partition.

Thank you,

Todd
