    Re:MOTU driver Win7 pre mkIII gear? What's best? 2010/11/09 00:06:31 (permalink)
    Mike,

I am running the UltraLite mk3 using the USB port and the latest drivers. I truly love the flexibility of the CueMix application, and I haven't explored all the possibilities, yet.
I find it really handy that you can create several mixes from the same inputs in parallel and route it to the outputs. Also, you can save your configurations to a file.
It's also a nice idea that the 'pan' pots can be set to either L/R balance or stero width.

I have no complaints about the stability of the latest version. I am running Windows 7 64 bit.

I think there's a firmware update available on the MOTU site for the traveler.

    Hi Mike,

    FWIW,

If you're running pre mkIII MOTU Firewire units with WinXP 32Bit, I'd run driver version 3.6.7.4
This version is the older driver (no support for CueMix EFX) and it has lower round-trip latency (by a couple of ms)

If you're running Win7x64, you need to run the latest version of the driver (support for CueMix EFX) and deal with the extra couple of ms RTL).  MOTU ironed out some issues with x64 support over the months... so you don't have much choice in this scenario.

BTW, In Win7x64, switch the FW controller's driver to legacy mode (in Device Manager).
    Then install the MOTU driver.

    Best Regards,
